A recent article in the¬†American Journal of Public Health titled, “Disability-Free Life Expectancy Over 30 Years: A Growing Female Disadvantage in the US Population”, indicated that while women may have a longer life expectancy than men, they are living those years with the burden of disabilities.

The authors conclude that public health measures that postpone disabilities in older women will be key to offset impending long-term care pressures in this population. To learn more about this study, you can visit AJPH website to view the article’s Abstract.
